The recently announced Soul Sacrifice has made a lot of Vita owners excited at the prospects of another big game coming to the PSV. Now SCEA has registered Forsaken Souls, a name that obviously sounds similar to the new Vita game. Could this be Soul Sacrifice‘s localized name? Soul Sacrifice already sounds like it could work as a name in America, but keep in mind that Sony changed the name of Gravity Daze to Gravity Rush outside of Japan, so it is possible.

This name also sounds like it could work as game in the Souls series, and it could possibly be a sequel to Dark Souls. There could be a chance this game graces the Vita as well. Time will tell what this game will be, but if this is the localized version of Soul Sacrifice, expect to see it at E3.

Twitter user @supererogatory has spotted a job listing online for software that includes “Implementing interoperation between PS3 and the VITA”. Criterion are most known for their work on the Burnout franchise, and more recently the Need for Speed franchise.

It’s likely that the next Need for Speed game could be coming to the PlayStation Vita as well as the PS3, offering connectivity between the two version. I’m sure E3 will reveal this project.

I’ll update this post when we find out what it does. Because we got no announcement before hand, the update probably does more behind the scenes things such as security fixes, but there is a chance that something significant will come out of it.

Update: The only new feature a Wikipedia article points out is “System Update (In System Settings) can now be entered without a Parental Control Pin”. It is possible that some smaller new features will be discovered, but it seems to be a small update.

Before every E3 Gametrailer’s Bonus Round videos discuss the big three companies (Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo) going into E3. The cast of the videos usually include at least Geoff Keighley, Michael Pachter, and Shane Satterfield with some other guests. Obviously, this year one of the major talking points for Sony included the PlayStation Vita. While discussing the handheld, Pachter teased us with a title that is expected to be shown at E3.

There is one big title on the Vita that hasn’t been announced yet that I was pretty excited about.

It’s not surprising to know that Sony has a major title ready to be announced, especially after the disappointing sales after launch. It’s still nice to know that Sony has at least one big surprise for us on the Vita.

It should also be noted that Pachter could have been talking about the recently announced Soul Sacrifice as this video would have been recorded before the announcement of that title in Japan.

You can watch the video here.

After Twitter user @joshua_x_ tweeted a picture of Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy’s box art, some people pointed out the “Nintendo Network” logo in the corner of the box. Nintendo DS and Wii owners know that in the corner of boxes for games with online play there was a logo for “Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.” Unless Nintendo has simply changed the name of their online service, this sounds like it could be something new for upcoming online games. Mario Kart 7, a recently released 3DS game with online multiplayer, didn’t feature this logo, and it seems that Theatrhythm may be the first to do so.

So what is this mysterious logo for? Some are speculating that this will be a unified online service for both Wii U and 3DS, and that we’ll hear about this at Nintendo’s Japanese investor conference next Thursday (January 26). For now we can only guess, but the answer to this mystery may be revealed very soon!

As more and more people start to play around with their PSV’s, we are starting to learn more about the handheld. A feature we didn’t fully know about is the ability to take in-game screenshots in seemingly any game for the Vita. These screenshots are saved in JPG format and are in native resolution, bringing us some beautiful screenshots. The screenshot above was obtained from this feature and was posted on NeoGAF.

Although it will be a couple months until the rest of the world sees Sony’s newest handheld, the Japanese have already got their hands on Vita systems. This is an exciting time as now both Sony and Nintendo have gotten their systems out and we will begin to get a lot of great games on both systems. Once Vita launches in all territories, we’ll be able to see what the market for dedicated handheld gaming devices looks like a little better, and we’ll be able to see which analysts were right.

Did anybody import a Vita? If not, how much harder is the wait for the Vita now that you know the Japanese are playing it?

If you think the Monster Hunter craze in Japan is even close to stopping, think again. Monster Hunter 3G has sold 471,000 units in two days. 3DS hardware sales also reflect the huge spike in software sales. Famitsu is reporting that the 3DS has sold 370K units which makes it the biggest week since launch.

The power of Monster Hunter in Japan is simply amazing, and it is surely making both Capcom and Nintendo smile. It will be interesting to see how the sales of the 3DS and the game continue as the Vita’s launch is just around the corner.
