If you think the Monster Hunter craze in Japan is even close to stopping, think again. Monster Hunter 3G has sold 471,000 units in two days. 3DS hardware sales also reflect the huge spike in software sales. Famitsu is reporting that the 3DS has sold 370K units which  makes it the biggest week since launch.

The power of Monster Hunter in Japan is simply amazing, and it is surely making both Capcom and Nintendo smile. It will be interesting to see how the sales of the 3DS and the game continue as the Vita’s launch is just around the corner.

It seems that Capcom didn’t fill Sony in on the fact, or at least the specifics, that the next numbered Monster Hunter game would be appearing on 3DS. When Sony was asked how Nintendo snatched the deal from Sony, the President of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan, Hiroshi Kawano admitted, “I don’t know. You will have to ask Capcom.”

However, Sony is reassuring fans of the likelihood a Monster Hunter game will appear on Vita. In a separate interview Shuhei Yoshida stated that fans shouldn’t rule out the possibility that the franchise will appear on Vita in the form of a new game.

I think it’s inevitable for Vita to get its own Monster Hunter, but 3DS undeniably has a head start with the Japanese fans since the platform will get Monster Hunter Tri G in December and Monster Hunter 4 at some point in the future.

The rumor going into Nintendo’s 3DS Conference 2011 was that the company had a major surprise announcement for their 3D handheld. We were unsure if the game would be from Nintendo themselves or a third party, and many thought that the announcement would be Monster Hunter Tri G which was announced in Famitsu last week. Nintendo shocked everyone when they ended their conference with a shocking announcement of Monster Hunter 4 for the 3DS.

We don’t know much about the title yet other than the fact that it is coming to the 3DS. The trailer featured at the conference shows a hunter running away from a huge monster. He falls into a pit, and there seems to be platforming elements in the game as well as the ability to climb on walls with seemingly no ledges. I’m sure we’ll be hearing a lot about this game from the Japanese press, so stay tuned if you’re a fan of the best selling Japanese game series.

Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD is coming out on August 25 in Japan, and commercials have already started advertising the game. This is the PlayStation 3 version of the best-selling PSP game Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. This will certainly be a big game for Japan, and I’m sure many people are excited for the game. You can view the other commercial here.

Wow, this is some absolutely terrible news. Capcom has officially cancelled the 3DS game Mega Man Legends 3. The game was said to be in trouble very early in its lifetime, and unfortunately the game will not make it to release. I saw this coming, but I never wanted to admit to myself how grim things were looking for the game.
