Despite the horrendous reception from early Final Fantasy XIV players, Square Enix is still trying to rework their MMORPG to make it something Final Fantasy fans will love. According to a recent interview, that includes support for PlayStation Vita and smartphones. During an interview with RPG Site, Producer & Director Naoki Yoshida revealed that the company is looking to expand support for the game over multiple platforms in the form of apps for portable devices. These apps would enable the player to manage certain aspects of the game such as their inventory.

I realize I’m a little late on this latest iPhone addiction, but give me a break – I’m not that much into iPhone gaming. I know you’re thinking that this is the “Handheld Gaming Blog”, and the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad represent a huge part of that market, but honestly it doesn’t interest me that much. I play the bigger games like Angry Birds, Tiny Wings, Game Dev Story, and the like, but it’s not very often I find myself venturing out of the games I already have downloaded to my iPod Touch (soon to be iPhone). However, Tiny Tower currently has me checking my iPod way too often. I have to admit that I am addicted to this charming but pretty much mindless game.
Here’s some unexpected news: a Pokemon game is coming to the App Store and Android marketplace in Japan. The app is called Pokemon le Tap, and it is a rhythm game. This may seem surprising since Apple is one of Nintendo’s biggest competitors, however, Nintendo says that the Pokemon Company is its own entity, and they are free to make their own business decisions. That doesn’t seem right to me since Nintendo owns the franchise, but I am no legal expert.
Deathsmiles is coming to iOS devices. The game was originally a side scrolling shoot arcade game. It was later released for Xbox 360, and the game will now grace iOS devices. A new trailer and screenshots were released today.
