Talk about bad PR. Capcom Europe has tweeted the following the message:

@kdawg3000 it’s a shame the fans didn’t want to get more involved :-( if we saw there was an audience for MML3 people might change minds

That is certainly not something you want to say to some pissed off fans who aren’t getting a game. Since the tweet was made, Capcom of Europe has since apologized, and they have clarified that they meant the dev room support wasn’t great, but still… not something you want to say.

Wow, this is some absolutely terrible news. Capcom has officially cancelled the 3DS game Mega Man Legends 3. The game was said to be in trouble very early in its lifetime, and unfortunately the game will not make it to release. I saw this coming, but I never wanted to admit to myself how grim things were looking for the game.

UPDATE: It seems that I didn’t explain what this was about very well and some people think I just made this up for some reason, so let’s get this straight. Yes, the Mega Man Legends 3 website is still alive and kicking. You can visit that website here. That’s certainly encouraging, but it still bothers me that Capcom removed the listing of this game (not the website) from their “games” section on the Capcom website (here). This was the original subject of this article, and it has nothing to do with the actual website for the game. I just wanted to make that clear, and that you should, in fact, not freak out immediately. I am, however, perturbed with how Capcom seems to be treating this game and considering some of the recent actions of the company, I am honestly more than a little worried for the fate of this game. Stay tune for Capcom’s official response on the matter if they supply us with one.

Are you looking forward to Mega Man Legends 3? Well, I have some potentially bad news for you. It’s no secret that Mega Man Legends 3 has had a rough development. Shortly after Capcom announced the game, employees were hinting that the game might not actually come out. Then, Capcom announced that the game would have a “Prototype Version” avaliable at the launch of the eShop – except that never happened and Capcom said it got delayed. Today, Capcom has done something to make me even more nervous.

Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version is very close to release. We don’t know the exact release date, but we know it will launch with the eShop sometime this month. While you wait, Capcom has released some new screenshots that you can see after the break. We also know that the paid demo will feature 10 missions to choose from.

Screenshots after the break.

We got a clue for this game via a rating from the Australian Ratings Classification Board, but we didn’t know exactly what this meant. Thankfully, today Capcom clued us in today and confirmed that it is in fact a game and it will be coming to the eShop when it launches in May.

The game will give fans their first taste of Mega Man Legends 3 and a look at the game in its very early stages. Not a ton of details are known at this time, but the game will launch in Japan for 200 yen. That’s about $2.44, so I think we can expect to pay around $2 when it launches in the US. That’s probably pretty fair, as long as the game has enough content to justify the price for a what looks to be a demo you have to pay for.

A trailer was also shown off (as you can see above), and it features some (still early?) gameplay. It’s very blurry and hard to see right now, but I’m guessing we will be getting a better version of the trailer soon and I will post that when we get it.
