During their Gamescom 2011 press conference, Sony announced that Europe will be receiving a special PSP without Wi-Fi for the low price of €99. Since the model doesn’t support Wi-Fi, you obviously can’t download games from the PlayStation Store using Wi-Fi. However, Sony is saying that the model, known as the PSP E-1000, will be able to use Media Go to get games off the PlayStation Store. Other than that, players will need UMDs to play games.
Nintendo World Report is saying that we will learn the rest of the free games avaliable in the Ambassador Program by August 12. That is the same day as the price drop, so I suppose it makes sense to announce it then. Also, according to a Nintendo of America customer service employee, Kirby and the Amazing Mirror is looking very likely to be one of those games while Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 has less of a chance.

That’s up to you. I have to admit that it doesn’t feel too great that everyone else will be able to get the free games that only early adopters that spent $80 more were supposed to get, but of course I understand why people would want to do it and I would probably do the same.
A lot of people were angry after Nintendo announced one of the most dramatic price drops I’ve ever seen, only four months after the launch of the 3DS. I was angry until I found about the Ambassador Program that Nintendo will make avaliable to early adopters. Hey, what can I say? 20 free games is pretty nice. What also nice is a personal apology from Nintendo’s president Satoru Iwata. Continue reading »
