What do you think of these new commercials for the 3DS? They both show off the 1st party lineups for the system as well as the new low price. One focuses more on press comments about the games while the other is pure footage.

Honestly, they are kind of underwhelming than this, and I would hope they have a lot more commercials planned for the holiday.

After seeing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, many fans were wondering why the game’s less talked about sequel Majora’s Mask wasn’t getting the same treatment. Has Nintendo completely forgotten about the Zelda game featuring the moon crashing into the Earth? It seems not! Eiji Aonuma said that Majora’s Mask has a chance of being on the 3DS. Here’s exactly what Aonuma had to say.

If you’re in Japan, preordering may be a necessity to ensure you get a copy of the classic Zelda game. This is because Nintendo of Japan is being very conservative in their initial shipment of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. Only 150,000 units will be shipped to our Japanese friends at launch. To some, this will come us a surprise. After all, The Legend of Zelda is one of Nintendo’s biggest franchises. However, the Zelda franchise isn’t near as popular in Japan as it in the United States or Europe. Nintendo is taking this action because of the surplus of copies for other Zelda games in the past. Nintendo doesn’t want to flood retailers with copies that won’t get sold.

Nintendo has said that if preorders continue to increase (they have following this announcement), they will consider beefing up their initial shipment. For now, it may be a smart idea to preorder the game in Japan.

And, although I don’t expect the game to be in scarce quantity in America, you can preorder the game at Amazon to secure your copy today.

Ocarina of Time 3D

In an interview with EDGE, Shigeru Miyamoto disclosed many details about software development at Nintendo. Miyamoto commented on the lack of must-have titles for the 3DS at launch. He assures fans that Nintendo is hard at work at many titles for their newest handheld. Some of them may include some eShop games.

He also showed interest in making more remakes for the 3DS. Currently Nintendo is developing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (set for release on June 19) and Star Fox 64 3D which are both remakes of Nintendo 64 games. One might expect Nintendo to continue with their trend of remaking Nintendo 64 games, but Miyamoto showed interest in remaking The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Following the announcement that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D will release on June 19th in North America, Nintendo has opened websites for the two N64 upgraded ports they are bringing to the 3DS. You can view Star Fox 64 3D’s website here and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D’s website here.

There isn’t a whole lot to see, but there is some nice music there and Ocarina of Time’s website has some spectacular artwork. It’s just enough to get me even more excited for the releases of these classic games.

Don’t forget to preorder The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D at Amazon.
