3DS firmware 4.1.0-8U now available

The 3DS has just received an update to it’s firmware. No word on what it does right now, but you can download it in the system settings menu. I’ll update this post when we find out what it does. Because we got no announcement before hand, the update probably does more behind the scenes things such as security fixes, but there is a chance that something significant will come out of it. This update is especially good news for people who like to play casino games on their Nintendo, bringing much-needed improvements. n-Space lashes out at ONM and Kotaku after less-than-perfect Modern Warfare 3: Defiance reviews

n-Space, developer of the Activision published DS title Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: Defiance (hooray for double colons), had some harsh words for Official Nintendo Magazine in response to the review of the game which they posted on their Facebook wall. The writer of the message specifically pointed out a line which questions why the game is on Nintendo’s last gen handheld instead of the 3DS. n-Space responded with some criticisms of their own for the publication. The full quote is below.

The official Nintendo Magazine of UK gives CoD:MW3:D a 70%. Apparently we get marked down for “not being ready to take the step up to 3DS yet.” I’m always amazed by how poorly game journalists understand the …

Chunsoft announces 999-related game for both Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita, screenshots and trailer released

In some news that personally has me very interested, Chunsoft has announced that they are working on a new visual novel titled Extreme Escape Adventure: Good People Die for both PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS. While it’s exciting to see both major portables receiving the game, what’s really exciting to me is knowing that this game is coming from the same team that brought us 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors, which was one of the my favorite games of last year. Better yet – it seems the new game has some direct ties to 999, as you can see in the trailer posted above. It appears that the game is similar to 999 in that players

Rumor: Disgaea 3 to be PlayStation Vita launch game

There’s a rumor making the rounds that Disgaea 3 may make its way to the PSV. The original claim comes from a list of newly announced games in a Japanese Yahoo article. The article made the claim listed below, but it later removed the listing. Is Sony trying to keep developers quiet until Gamescom or maybe Tokyo Game Show?

Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance is about halfway done

The latest issue of Famitsu magazine in Japan revealed some information on the new Kingdom Hearts game for the 3DS. Tetsuya Nomura revealed that Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance is 40-50% complete. Apparently Nomura was dropping some hints about the game in Famitsu, but they seem really cryptic. Andriasang wrote that Nomura said, “XXX and XXX in Traverse Town!” It’s supposed to be surprising so prepare to be surprised, I guess!

It sounds like this game will add more crazy to the series’ already convoluted story as it’s supposed to be at least partly about the “data” hidden inside Sora. Yeah…

We’ve seen that Sora and Riku appear to be more acrobatic in this game, and Andriasang writes that …

Tekken 3DS interview and footage (60 FPS in 3D)

Tekken 3DS was one of the new 3DS games announced at E3. Gamespot got an interview with Harada-San of Tekken fame, and they discussed the new Tekken coming to Nintendo’s handheld.

During the interview, Harada-San said that the Tekken 3DS demo being shown at E3 was just a tech demo, but it should be used as a general idea of what the game will look like. As far as the character roster goes, Haradan-San has stated that all the usual characters will make it to the 3DS version, but he “also has a few surprises planned”, and that doesn’t just go for the character roster.

We got some even more exciting news through a written preview GameSpot did. It turns …

Heroes of Ruin features four-player online co-op and voice chat

So here I am, just flipping through this months issue of Nintendo Power when I spot a very familiar piece of artwork. I actually posted this art today thinking that this was a part of the big reveal of Heroes of Ruin, a game resulting from the collaboration of Square Enix and n-Space. n-Space announced the game through their Facebook page. Shortly after announcing it, n-Space deleted the post but the damage was done. Turns out that Nintendo Power actually had the big reveal all along, on page 13 to be specific. And it gets better – Nintendo Power published details that weren’t given on the Facebook page.

The quick description of the game in Nintendo Power actually gives us …

Nintendo Power reveals Mutant Mudds for the Nintendo eShop (first scans)

It seems like it’s been all bad news for the Nintendo eShop lately. First Nintendo’s May update got a delay to June, and then Capcom announced that Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version, previously announced as a launch game for the service, was also receiving a delay. Today I’m happy to report some good news for the eShop from the latest issue of Nintendo Power.

Renegade Kid, comprised of the people that brought you Dementium (I and II) and Moon for the DS, have announced a sort-of-new game for the Nintendo eShop called Mutant Mudds. Don’t get me wrong – the game is comprised completely of original content – but this isn’t the first time we’ve seen the game. …

RUMOR: The NGP’s final name is “PS Vita”

Rumors are starting to circulate that the final name for Sony’s next handheld is PS Vita. This rumor comes from Games Pundit who says they heard this from a source. I’ve never heard o the site before, and it looks to be a pretty small site, but the author assures us that he isn’t doing this for hits and that he did he hear this for a source and its not made up.

Personally, I think that’s a pretty stupid name. I suppose the acronym will be “PSV” which sounds alright, but I’m definitely not a fan of the “Vita”. “Vita” is Italian for “life”, so I suppose Sony is trying to pump some life into their handheld division with

n-Space removes Heroes of Ruin post from their Facebook page

I went back to n-Space’s Facebook page after seeing the art they posted on their upcoming game Heroes of Ruin, hoping to find more information, but I was a bit surprised at what I found. I think n-Space got a little too excited over their next game and revealed it earlier than Square Enix would have liked because the post has been removed. Now when you got to n-Space’s Facebook page you are greeted to a status update they did right before the reveal.

I hope Square Enix isn’t too peeved!…
